Toiletry Drive
The December initiative was a toiletry drive and our community did not disappoint. All items collected went towards helping out the Chateauguay food bank.
ELF WEEK
Harmony students celebrate the last week of school in style. With the of the PPO (who did a fantastic job decorating the hallway and tree), our students got to enjoy something everyday. Monday’s Red Day started the week off in full colour. Tuesday’s Polar White/Milk and Cookie Day was both delicious and stylish. Wednesday’s Green/Grinch Day saw many grumpy faces and one very happy Ms. Sarah. Thursday’s Festive Dress Day was the perfect fit our 1st Christmas concert. And the week could not have ended any other way than the traditional Elf/Pyjama Day with tons of activities planned by the PPO. Madame Elise and her crew provided the delicious pizza for this fun filled day. Many prizes were won in the BINGO finale. Thank you
Mini-Volleyball Tournament
Harmony grade 5 and 6 students participated in the NFSB elementary school Mini-Volleyball tournament on December 6. The event was very well attended by family and friends. The students had a great time learning and playing the game. The athletes from Harmony proudly brought home the 2nd place honours. Well dome teams.
Grade 3 Long-House Showcase
Grade 3 students spent many hours creating their long house project from natural materials. On December 9, they ran a showcase and invited students from other grade levels to see and hear about their creations. Well done to all.
Grade 6 games creation
The grade 6 students have been working very hard on creating games for their unit of study. Over the course of several days, they invited the other students from the school to listen, learn about and play all the wonderful games they created.
Shelter in Place
It was unfortunate that the Chateauguay schools had to enforce a shelter in place protocol during the last week of school. We know that things will happen beyond our control and our actions are to protect and keep your children safe. Our priority was to keep our students/staff in and everyone else out to ensure security. We would like to extend a tremendous thank you to all the Harmony families for your trust in us during the difficult times.
Holiday Potluck FEASTS
Our students from Kindergarten and Grade 1 held holiday feasts. These feasts gave opportunities for the parents to join our students in the cafeteria for an early holiday celebration. Games were played, conversations were many and laughs filled the room. Thank to all the parents for your generous contributions. The staff definitely enjoyed the leftovers (especially Mr. Chan).
K4 Volet Parental
Les groupes K4 et K4/5 ont accueilli les parents pour des activités de Noël 🎄 ⛄️🎅
Grade 6 breakfast
Our grade 6 students enjoyed a breakfast potluck just before the holidays. Thank you to the many parent volunteers who not only created the delicious offerings but also served the hungry hordes (including Mr. Chan).
Bus Issues
Although the month of December was filled with many wonderful celebrations and accomplishments, we have to mention the inconvenience that was caused to many families by the bussing issues. Please note that NFSB has been in constant conversations with the transport provider about improvements to their service. We have also reached out the the ministry of education for assistance in dealing with this concern. It is our hope that a reliable service commitment can be reached sooner than later.
Christmas concert
Oh what a great first edition of the Harmony Elementary School Christmas Concert. Mr. Marvin and all our students delivered performances worthy of a concert hall. Vocals and instrumental talents were on full display. Parents and guardians were invited to 1 of 3 concerts throughout the course of the day (some lucky ones attended more than one). The cycle 1 concert was first at 10am and did not disappoint in laying down the expectation for the rest of the day. Their choir singing coupled with the soloist were splendid. The cycle 2 concert was before lunch and brought new heights to the show. With solos in both instruments and vocals, they were choreographed machines. Our senior cycle 3 students ended the day after lunch with amazing renditions and displays of awe-inspiring talent that brought tears and goosebumps. Well done to everyone.
